How To Create An Easy Barbecue Party

If like me you’ve noticed the days are warming up then you know we are getting into the barbecue season. Spring is certainly here and what better way to celebrate than to invite your friends round to spend some time with you and your family. There are many reasons why my friends and I delight in a excellent barbecue so much: shared cooking duties, bone idle afternoons in the sun, fun for all the family, and lots of different tastes to explore.

Barbecues are best when they are honestly spontaneous and kept simple. A few cuts of meat and a variety of marinades to drop the meat into for a couple of hours and you’re half way there. Whether you’re still shaking off the winter blues or already charging headlong into thoughts of long summer days then a barbecue is a fantastic way to get going. Get together a few excellent recipes, a garden full of friends and just relax and delight in.

A small up-front plotting will help to ensure that your barbecue party is the best that it can be. Forget the burnt sausages and dried up chicken legs it’s simple to make and delight in tasty food from your own garden barbecue.

Now let’s get the food sorted:

Meat: Lamb, chicken, monkfish (all off the bone and cut into bite-sized chunks), plus some Tuna and Beef steaks.

Marinades: Below are my three favourites, you just need to pop the ingredients for each one into a blender with a small salt and pepper.
1. Olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, chopped chilli pepper, chopped coriander leaves
2. Olive oil, soya sauce, chopped ginger, garlic, five spice powder
3. Plain yogurt, chopped mint leaves, lime juice

Side Dishes: Mixed green salad, Boiled New Potatoes, Bread, Coleslaw, Pasta salad

Snacks: Olives, Crisps, Nuts, Dips

Drinks: Chilled Beer, Sparkling white wine, Fruit juice and Cocktails (alcoholic and non-alcoholic).

1. Just drop your choices of cubed meat and fish into the various marinades and leave covered in the fridge for a couple of hours in the morning before your guests arrive.
2. Ensure all the drinks are chilled.
3. Turn on the party music.
4. Thread the marinated meat onto skewers to make kebabs – get all your friends involved in this messy duty!
5. Make the side dishes – or better still delegate out to various friends and family while you place your feet up in the garden with a glass of bubbly.

1. Light the barbecue, and then leave until it’s ready to cook on.
2. Assemble friends and family in the garden with a glass in hand.
3. Cook the kebabs and steaks on the barbecue ensuring you turn them regularly. They should each only take 10 – 15 minutes. If you’re not sure just cut one open to see if the inside is cooked. Take care not to have the barbecue too hot or the outside will burn before the inside is cooked.

Then relax and delight in the food, drink and company of your friends and family.
