Easy Kid Recipes in a Flash

It’s 6:00 p.m .you’ve just gotten home from soccer practice, homework needs to be done, house is a mess and you have no clue what to make for dinner… what do you do?

The excellent news is you’re not alone, this is a common scenario in many households and it’s often the time when we pick up the phone and order a pizza or grab some quick food at the drive thru on the way home. But it really doesn’t have to be this way. If you’re looking for ways to save money on food while feeding your family healthier meals then quick and simple homemade meals are the way to go.

Here are some tips to help you prepare a few simple kid recipes in no time:

Stock your fridge and pantry with healthy simple to prepare foods. Pasta, couscous, noodles and baked beans are fantastic quick meal options to have on hand. Frozen vegetables are often healthier for you since they are frozen before they loose much of their vitamin content and are really fantastic for days when you’re in a rush. You can get all types of options ranging from a carrot, broccoli and peas mix to frozen mixed peppers and stir fry vegetables.

Keep in minds that meals don’t have to be fancy or take hours to cook to be nutritious. A simple scrambled eggs with baked beans and whole wheat toast is a healthy and simple meal option… ready in under 10 minutes.

Or boil some pasta and mix with a small chopped ham, olive oil and halved cherry tomatoes. Top with some parmesan cheese and serve with a side of garlic bread and a quick salad… ready in under 15 minute.

When you have a small more time place a couple of salmon fillets in the oven. While that’s cooking prepare some couscous, mix in a small lemon juice and olive oil. Boil some frozen vegetables. And you have a quick healthy and nutritious dinner… ready in under 20 minutes.

And for the days that you’re really, really rushed and just don’t feel like cooking. How about a cheese sandwich and lettuce sandwich on whole wheat bread, some carrot sticks, pretzels and a few raisins. Dinner doesn’t always have to look like dinner, of course, it’s nice and necessary for your kids to have some hot home cooked dinners but once in a while a healthy sandwich will do the trick just fine.
