Spicy Spaghetti with Pecans

SPICY SPAGHETTI WITH PECANS

Ingredients:

16-ounces Pecans, chopped
2-tablespoons Butter
6-tablespoons Italian style bread crumbs
4-cups Tomato paste
2-cups Water
2-cups Tomato sauce
1-medium Onion, chopped
1-cup Mushrooms, fresh sliced
1-cup Black olives, sliced
1-clove Garlic, minced
1-teaspoon Salt
1-teaspoon Pepper
1-teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes
2-teaspoons Italian seasoning, crushed
1-pound Angel hair spaghetti, uncooked
1-cup Parmesan cheese

Instructions:

Brown onion, salt, pepper garlic powder, butter and mushrooms in large skillet. Pour onion mixture in large pot and add remaining ingredients except for pecans, pasta and parmesan cheese; let simmer for 2 hours. Cook spaghetti according to instructions on package; serve spaghetti topped with sauce, pecans and parmesan cheese.

Serves 6

Note: You can always make this with different nuts. Also, make this with whole wheat noodles to give this dish an even healthier edge. If you don’t really like it spicy leave off the red pepper flakes. Instead of fixing garlic bread, serve flat bread. Flat bread has less calories than your regular garlic bread. Sometimes I place in 1/2-cup of black olives and 1/2-cup of pitted green olive slices.
